ECOS, the Environmental Coalition on Standards, is an international NGO with a network of members and experts advocating for environmentally friendly technical standards, policies, and laws. Headquartered in Brussels and with an Africa office in Nairobi, ECOS is active internationally. ECOS has been following closely the developments of the recently adopted EU Soil Monitoring and Resilience Directive (Soil Monitoring Law) while actively contributing to key standardization projects where important Soil Quality standards are being developed.

The talk will provide an overview of selected soil-related projects at ISO and CEN level, followed by an in-depth discussion of ECOS review of standards for measuring soil organic carbon.
