Wesermarsch: Next Generation
Wesermarsch developed and tested a next-generation business model for a sustainable, collaborative industrial park. Here, it is planned to develop 138 ha of land near the roads B212/B437. Wesermarsch partner defined explicit sustainability criteria and tested how attractive these would be for businesses. Inspired by GRITH discussions, Wesermarsch adopted a broad definition of sustainability aligned with the UNESCO SDGs, covering ecological, economic, and social justice dimensions. Meeting these criteria will increase investment costs for participating municipalities but will also raise the site’s overall value and pricing.
The next-generation business model for a sustainable, collaborative industrial park includes:
- A strong energy transition effect in decarbonization perspectives for business which promotes a high demand for sustainable industrial sites
- Phased development and certification for sustainable industrial parks
- Eight pillars supporting an enhanced, sustainable industrial-site business case
- Increased teps toward implementation
- Territorial effects in line with GRITH goals
