The event also featured a live stream provided by Auto Mooring Solutions (AMS), KOTUG International, and Circle Line Logistics on innovations, some driven by tight collaboration between project partners.

AMS demonstrated their new vacuum technology to connect ships at open sea, e.g., for bunkering LNG, and how robot technology and AI can make the mooring process more efficient and less straining for deck personnel. In both cases, AI technology is leveraged to identify the exact spots on where to connect vacuum devices or identify the bollards to position their rope picker robot.

KOTUG presented their design of modular tugboats providing for more efficient operations. These technical solutions open opportunities in freight flow coalitions we develop now. Automated mooring reduces operation costs, modular tugboats quickly can be adapted to freight stream operation needs, like change the energy source from electricity to hydrogen.  Circle Line Logistics demonstrated the benefits of digital twinning in designing more efficient loading and off-loading of waste containers. A project they carried out in collaboration with KOTUG.

In summary, the InnoWaTr project event at KLU Hamburg was a great success, fueling collaboration, evoking lively discussions, and stimulating team building. Altogether, a lively example of: “Together we move ahead”.
