Vervoerregio Transport Authority for the Amsterdam Region (NL)

Vervoerregio Amsterdam serves as the Transport Authority for the Amsterdam region. Although currently responsible only for Public Transport - which, under Dutch law, includes Bus, Tram, Metro, Train, and Ferry - the Executive Committee has expressed a desire to provide Public Mobility, which combines Public Transport with flexible systems and Shared Mobility. At present, shared mobility is not provided or governed on a regional scale, making it largely impractical for most common regional commutes. In this project, Vervoerregio aims to determine the most appropriate governing model for initiating a tendering or licensing process for a regional shared mobility system. Vervoerregio seeks to share its insights and experiences, and draft upscaling action plans for hubs. Both Amsterdam and Vervoerregio will draft plans for increasing uptake and the number of hubs, as well as for integrating with public transport. These plans will take a holistic approach, considering factors such as parking, zero-emission zones, incentives, and communication.

Vervoerregio Amsterdam's primary focus will be on the Work Package (WP) Upscaling. The organization will contribute to the realization of 20 new shared mobility hubs in the regional municipalities outside Amsterdam, each of which will feature 5-15 shared vehicles, including bicycles, e-bikes, scooters, and cars. Vervoerregio will also work on creating a regional governance blueprint for cooperation with Transport Operators and deliver a digital structure (as part of CDS-M) into which both shared mobility providers and public transport providers can input their data. This structure is intended to serve as management information for the Transport region and its municipalities, in cooperation with the city. Vervoerregio will also contribute to training, communication and dissemination, impact measurement, digitalization agenda, and monitoring.

In the Work Package Pilots, Vervoerregio will support pilot partners with knowledge about how to initiate and implement shared mobility hub pilots. It will offer specific knowledge about the relationship with established and contracted Public Transport operators and insights into connecting urban areas with more rural regions.
