Main content

BV Steeland is a multidisciplinary group practice specialising in neurogenic disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and young-onset dementia. Founded in 2004 as a speech therapy clinic, the organisation has since grown into a centre offering tailored, interdisciplinary care. The company’s innovative Q-Pen is a compact writing aid developed specifically for people with Parkinson’s. Equipped with an ergonomic grip and rhythmic auditory cues, it helps users maintain a steady handwriting pace and improve legibility. The pen’s writing tempo is adjustable (15–40 beats per minute) via a simple dial, and the device is fully stand-alone, battery-powered, and easy to carry—making it practical for everyday use at home or in therapy sessions. Through the ACE project, BV Steeland is piloting the Q-Pen with a care organisation in Brabant, the Netherlands, to evaluate its usability, therapeutic benefits, and potential to support independence and confidence in daily life.
