The Sustainable Mobility House Project in Lille

Main content

As part of their sustainable mobility ambition, the city of Lille (France) is opening a Sustainable Mobility House to transform the city's transport habits, reduce individual car use, and increase awareness of sustainable transport options. Strategically located between major train stations and the city centre, the House aims to become a central spot for information, mobility education, citizen engagement events and more.

Objectives

  • Increase awareness and usage of the new Sustainable Mobility House
  • Promote active mobility options within the busy transport hub
  • Develop an effective and targeted programme of activities at the House

Physical Intervention

The project will create the Sustainable Mobility House, a physical space to provide information, awareness, and communication about sustainable mobility. It will also explore possible spatial changes to improve connectivity between the train stations.

Soft Intervention

Targeted campaigns will encourage the use of active mobility modes as part of multimodal trips, while raising awareness of the benefits of cycling and walking. Social activities at the Mobility House will stimulate discussions around active mobility.
