Text and Image Section

The pilot project in Bergen, (Norway) aims to transform the mobility landscape in three key areas: the central city, Minde/Kronstad, and Fyllingsdalen. Upon the construction of the longest purpose-built cycling and walking tunnel, Bergen seeks ways to activate the areas that the tunnel connects.

Objectives

  • Execute and expand cycling and walking strategies of the city and region
  • Reimagine multimodal planning in the three key areas to foster active mobility
  • Promote the use of the recently opened active mobility tunnel corridor

Physical Intervention
The project will rethink the design of three mobility hubs (Fyllingsdalen, Kronstad & Mindebyen, and Bergen Centrum) to integrate active mobility. It will also include the addition of cycling sharing and parking facilities in these areas, along with the opening of the active mobility tunnel.

Soft Intervention
To foster active mobility in the tunnel, the project will implement campaigns and other behaviour measures. Additionally, efforts will be made to maintain the tunnel as an attractive transport infrastructure.
