From 14–16 January 2025, a delegation of local authorities, universities, and water utilities from the Baltic States visited a series of inspiring projects in Flanders and the Netherlands. The aim: to explore innovative solutions in rainwater management, water reuse, and climate adaptation.
The programme included site visits organised by DuCoop and VITO, featuring:
- Nieuwe Dokken in Ghent, a demo site within the Interreg North Sea Region ANCHOR project
- The ‘Slimme Straat’ (Smart Street) in Wiekevorst, a pioneering Flemish case of collective rainwater management
Earlier the WaterMan delegation visited another ANCHOR demo site ‘Jenfelder Au’ in Germany.
During their visits the delegation was introduced to cutting-edge technologies and forward-looking urban water concepts.
With backpacks full of ideas and fresh inspiration, the delegation returned home, motivated to further enhance sustainable water strategies in their own regions.
