The Haringvlietstraat is the road surrounding Dordrecht’s northern Staart Oost neighbourhood. It is surrounded by high levels of industry.

Pre-implementation challenges in pilot site

  • High air and water pollution levels
  • High levels of soil contamination
  • Poor connections to nearby nature and water
  • High incidence of heat stress

Interventions planned

  • Plant more greenery and trees along Haringvlietstraat
  • Build better connections between the district’s residential areas and nearby parks and natural areas
  • Monitor biodiversity levels
