The digital mapping tool is developed by the University of Twente. At the end of BIOZE, the deliverable will be a prototype and a conceptual design to support bioenergy planning. The tool aims to facilitate dialogue among public officials and to help them achieve the climate goals of their territory by considering the potential and acceptance of new biogas plants. The tool has the following features:

  • It allows users to interactively plan and allocate bioenergy projects within a specific area,
  • It is easy to use and can be implemented on a maptable,
  • It enhances awareness and social learning among stakeholders.

So far, the design thinking process phase between BIOZE partners produced:

  • A review of scientific publications related to similar tools in the biomass domain,
  • The tool scope: after several discussions on the boundaries and limits, the partners agreed that the tool will focus mainly on upgraded biogas plants.
