In the second week of April 2025, the Blue Transition summer school took place at Bolmen Research Station in Tiraholm and was organised by Sydvatten and Lund University. With the help of a great team of dedicated lecturers from various fields, ten highly motivated students were guided through the topic “Drinking Water – From Source to Tap”

Lectures complemented by hands-on activities
With (almost) perfect weather the program combined outdoor and indoor activities — starting with lectures on catchment ecosystems, monitoring systems, drinking water treatment, and catchment policies, and (hydro-)geophysics. These lectures were complemented by hands-on activities, including water sampling, flocculation experiments, field visits, DCIP and GPR measurements, and even outdoor cooking over an open fire.
The summer school was not only an experience for the students but also great fun for all of us. We have learned a lot from each other and enjoyed the familiar and inspiring atmosphere, also thanks to the good food and accommodation at Tiraholms restaurant and hotel.
