Celebrating Trust Building

It takes a lot of hands to assemble a circular building system, but a lot of hands are working on developments in the CTB Interreg project. Countries and partners face different challenges as national, regional, and institutional differences result in differing circumstances. Yet, this also allows for a broad scale of opportunities and progress. A multitude of circumstances enables more information gathering and thus promotes further project development. To reflect on what has happened in the year, some of our partners reflect on their favourite accomplishments and activities of 2025.

Project partners had a productive partner meeting in Vejle.

Vejle:

Circularity in construction is in its early stages of development in Denmark. In Vejle we are working to build relationships and networks with stakeholders in the construction industry; companies; NGOs and municipalities. We are trying to build a critical mass of stakeholders. It is process with long term view for results. It is an ongoing process. In this process, Vejle started the network called "Vejle Builds Circularly" in May. Additionally, the CTB partner meeting in Vejle was an important milestone, we invited stakeholders to come to meeting. CTB partners had important project development through information exchange and inspiring visits in Vejle. For a full report on the partner meeting in Vejle, see here.

“I think we will benefit from our activities and meeting we had had in the coming period of time.” – Flemming Kjærsgaard.

Vives University:

"This year we are mostly proud of our regional collaboration between the Flemish partners. We have been working quite a lot around the regional deal within the region and are getting to an end product on our circular deal. We are hoping to launch this before halfway through 2026. Additionally, we had also a positive experience when we have had talks with another Interreg project named circleBIM. Together with Annemieke we are exploring how we can work closer together and learn from each other."

Successful workshop with Vöfab staff in Växjö, Sweden.

GodaHus:

When it comes to the project, we are proud of being able to move forward in one of our pilots:

  • In the pilot with our municipal real estate company Vöfab, the CTB project financed a large inventory of all building materials available for reuse in a remodelling project: House G19. At Linneaus University in Växjö. Such an inventory is not yet common procedure, but we hope this pilot shows its importance for each project. Materials that would have normally been treated as waste are now digitally noticed and categorized, being prepared to be reused again. Through this inventory, we have been able to highlight the condition of the materials that most of it would have been treated as waste: 4,4/5 aesthetic look and 4,9/5 functional state. Much of it, more or less flawless!
  • Through a workshop with the Vöfab staff, the material inventory was presented, and we had the opportunity to discuss the results together. Now we are looking forward to following the project and to follow up on how much of the materials that are actually being reused. We hope to be able to report back on this in 2026.

A Hanze University guest lecture in the Energiehub050.

Hanze University:

For the Hanze University a very relevant CTB highlight is observed in the start of a new elective which is completely focused on circular building. It includes a broad scope of circularity knowledge and a number of interesting and inspiring excursions and guest speakers. This new elective will be realised twice a year, for 2nd and 3rd year students.

Actium:

For Actium it is inspiring to see how partners from different backgrounds – government, education, clients, and executing organisations – are collaborating to find solutions in the complex theme of circularity. The international aspect of CTB makes this challenge even more complex, but equally as informative. The urgency to build circular is growing and through initiatives such as CTB the urgency is felt more intensely but also motivates to work on solving the challenges at stake. Actium can increase its role in this challenge through the opportunities CTB provides.

Now, to close this article and this year by wishing happy holidays, merry Christmas, and a fulfilling 2026 to all CTB project partners, stakeholders, associates, and interested parties. See you next year!
