After 18 exciting months, the LISTEN project officially came to an end in April 2025. But even though the project has wrapped up, the results and ideas we’ve developed are just getting started.

The LISTEN partnership is proud to have finalized the project’s concluding report, “Youth Participation – 5 Principles for Local and Regional Action,” on time. The report is filled with perspectives and initiatives that reflect the combined expertise of all participating partners.

Since its completion, the results have been presented to local stakeholders and key actors in each partner country:

  • In France, ADICE hosted a local results conference in Roubaix in March 2025, with around 60 participants—including young people, youth workers, and decision-makers. A follow-up survey showed that 81% of attendees were interested in using the tools developed through LISTEN.
  • In Denmark, Faaborg-Midtfyn Kommune presented the results in April 2025 to local professionals and consultants involved in shaping a new Child and Youth Policy. This means LISTEN’s work will directly influence future municipal policies in the area.
  • In Sweden, Länsstyrelsen Skåne held a results conference in Malmö in April 2025. About 45 people attended in person, with another 30 joining online. The event included a walkthrough of the handbook and also presentation of practical methods used during the project. In a post-conference survey, participants rated the likelihood of recommending the manual to another colleague or network at 8.5 out of 10.

What Happens Next?

Even though the project has concluded, all partners are committed to keeping the momentum going:

  • In Denmark, Faaborg-Midtfyn Kommune is using the handbook and its principles as a foundation for their new Child and Youth Policy, ensuring the project’s ideas are embedded in everyday work.
  • In France, ADICE will continue applying the methods to strengthen their work with young people and youth organizations. They will also maintain contact with the local action group (LAG) to continue exchanging ideas and practices.
  • In Sweden, Länsstyrelsen Skåne will distribute the materials developed during LISTEN to local and regional actors across the country, supporting municipalities and regions in their work with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Concluding Remarks

We in the partnership are incredibly grateful that Interreg North Sea for trusting us to take on this important work together. We hope the results will prove useful not only in the North Sea region but far beyond. We also believe there is great potential to build on what we’ve started and we warmly welcome anyone interested in testing, adapting, or expanding on the tools and methods we’ve developed.

Until next time,
