From March 17 to March 21 the MANABAS COAST team came together in Schagen (NL) to continue the conversation on mainstreaming Nature-Based Solutions in the North Sea region.

Day 1: We built on the mainstreaming road trip that began last October in Groningen. Key results include the development of an impact pathway for each NBS pilot, highlighting the diversity of mainstreaming objectives. We look forward to the upcoming mid-term event, where we will transition from impact pathways to mainstreaming strategies. All 15 NBS pilots showcased their progress, demonstrating significant advancements in NBS implementation. At the same time, the pilots are paving the way for scaling up to other organizations and coastal areas.

Day 2 took us outdoors to the sunny coastline, where we explored the importance of communication and rethinking NBS narratives. Guided by Inge Wallage, we engaged in insightful discussions in a unique amphitheater setting at Laguna Beach in Schoorl, created by: David Veldhoen.

Day 3 focused on "How to Mainstream NBS." Six dedicated working groups, covering ecology, Natura 2000, drone monitoring, sand nourishment, and salt marshes, presented their findings. These insights will soon be available in the library of the MANABAS COAST website, so stay tuned!

A big thank you to the organizing team at HHNK: Petra Goessen, Ilona Evers, Richa Nanne, and Marion Mörs, as well as to Stephanie Janssen for her invaluable support on our journey to mainstream NBS.
