The MoLo Hubs project collaborates with the Horizon Europe project MOVE21, creating synergies for their pilot in Hamburg.
The MoLo Hubs pilot ‘EcoHHub’ operated by Stadtreinigung Hamburg is now part of the MOVE21 neighbourhood hub in Hamburg Altona. It expands the existing shared mobility and micro-hub at Kaltenkircher Platz with a recyclables drop-off point, a space for neighbourhood item exchange, and a sales point for Stadtreinigung Hamburg products - bringing sustainability and community closer together.
The MOVE21 project now held their final events presenting their results and take-aways from the research project, also including MoLo Hubs.
The MOVE21 Living Lab Hamburg published a Best Practice Manual – Can you spot the MoLo Hubs pilot “EcoHHub”?:
Our project coordinator Logistics Initiative Hamburg, also hosted a panel discussion during the Move21 final event in Hamburg. Managing Director Carmen Schmidt discussed the future of urban logistics & mobility together with stakeholders from the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, the City of Munich as well as DB InfraGo. The experts agreed that social participation and multifunctional utilisation are important approaches here. The need for cooperative planning and the role of the city as an enabler were also emphasised.
Trying to sum up the vision for urban logistics in 2030 in just three words was another exciting insight - everyone agreed it should be all about "sustainability & cutting emissions" as much as possible as well as:
- cooperative & efficient
- integrated & citizen-oriented
- multifunctional & space-efficient
but also ‘with more courage and pragmatic at the same time’. Attributes that we try to tackle in the MoLo Hubs project throughout all of our pilots!
Also interesting to read for our cross-cutting topics on spatial planning and city design - The design study for neighborhood hubs in urban areas (in German).
And the SUMP Guide on multimodal hubs in urban nodes, elaborated by POLIS, who are also responsible for the policy & legacy expertise within MoLo Hubs.
