On 12 February a REDII Ports project workshop with demos took place at VIVES University College in Kortrijk, focusing on green hydrogen production and sustainable engine solutions.
The Hydrogen research group of Vives presented their ongoing research projects on hydrogen and sustainable fuels, supplemented by live demonstrations in the lab, to representatives of the engine and energy sectors. Unfortunately, the public sector was absent.
Various aspects of VIVES's research work in the field of alternative fuels were presented:
- Electrolyze 2.0: This session demonstrated how local electrolysis can be optimized for the production of green hydrogen.
- Hydrogen Combustion Engines: This session focused on the technological feasibility of using hydrogen in combustion engines.
- Methanol Dual-Fuel Engines: This session explored how methanol can be used as an alternative fuel in dual-fuel engines to reduce emissions. Great to see that the work that has been done in the Ishy project, has been valorised within RED II ports.
