Today’s STORM_SAFE workshop at the Annual meeting was about enhancing collaboration and working smarter together. The workshop went beyond technology. Because achieving reliable performance is more than just technical excellence; it’s about mastering the art of collaboration in complex, unpredictable environments.

For the workshop, we were joined by two inspiring experts: dr. Johan Boudewijns, expert in High Reliability Organizing (HRO) for critical industries, and drs. Alexander Hermanns, specialist in applying HRO to fast-moving IT systems.

From air traffic control to healthcare and nuclear power, these sectors show us what true reliability looks like when small errors can have big consequences. What can we learn from them? And how can we apply this to our work on storm surge barriers, locks and dykes?

  • It’s not just theory: it’s about real ideas we can use.
  • It’s about thinking beyond tech and focusing on trust, teamwork and smart routines.
  • It’s about working reliably, even when the pressure is high.
