We are pleased to announce that we published a policy brief on the regulation of chemical emissions from offshore wind farms.
📄Read it here
The policy brief provides an overview of current regulatory approaches to chemical emissions from offshore wind farms – an issue central to Europe’s renewable energy transition - in the North Sea region including the Anemoi partnering countries. It highlights substantial differences in scope, monitoring requirements, and enforcement practices.
The findings are translated into concrete recommendations:
- Establishment of regional minimum requirements
- Balance of regulatory development with innovation and technical feasibility
- Expansion of data availability and scientific research
- Strengthening of transnational cooperation
The aim is to make potential emissions more visible and to support informed decisions to make the expansion of offshore wind energy in the North Sea more environmentally friendly.
We hope you find this policy brief both informative and engaging.
