As part of the Building Based on BioBased (BBoBB) project under the Interreg North Sea Programme, the HEMP House initiative in Denmark brings students and professionals together to learn hands on building with hemp, a renewable and circular material.

As part of the Building Based on BioBased (BBoBB) project under the Interreg North Sea Programme, the HEMP House initiative is turning sustainable ideas into real-life practice!

In southeastern Denmark, students, young professionals, and bio-based enthusiasts are learning hands-on how to build with hemp as a  renewable, circular material with huge potential for the green transition.

Through workshops, demonstrations, and afterwork events, participants discover how hemp can contribute to healthier indoor environments and a more sustainable construction sector. The initiative not only raises awareness but also builds practical skills for future green professionals.

Led by the Ukrainian company Hempire and supported by partners like DTU – Technical University of Denmark, the project showcases how natural materials such as hemp can reduce emissions, improve insulation, and create local value chains from field to building.

In addition, technical tests on hemplime are underway to compare performance in different climate zones, helping gather data that will guide future applications of bio-based materials across Europe.

Together, we are demonstrating how innovation, education, and sustainability can grow hand in hand one hemp wall at a time!
