The journey of cattail continues in 2026.
Last year, we shared an update from BBoBB partner Biosintrum on the first steps taken at Hegewarren, where cattail was harvested as part of an innovative approach to wet agriculture. Compared to previous years, this marked a significant step forward: creating new revenue models for farmers, helping to prevent further land subsidence, and storing CO₂ both in the soil and in bio-based products.

This year, we are proud to show the next phase of this journey. The cattail harvested last year has now been processed into bio-based building material. The first cattail panels will be installed in the Stdusio JK office in Ecomunitypark, in the coming weeks, this panels will be supplemented with material from this 2025–2026 harvest making the results of this local innovation visible in practice.
