On March 30, we brought together designers, policymakers, and value chain partners for an inspiring Building Based on BioBased (BBoBB) session. One key question guided the day:
Which local biobased materials can we use in design and how do we scale them up?
What stood out most was the openness to share experiences and learn from each other. Real-life examples showed that a circular economy isn't just an idea, it's already happening.

We saw a range of innovative materials, from bio-based wood alternatives to circular building solutions. The role of wet crops like cattail (lisdodde) was also highlighted not only for materials, but for climate and water goals as well. Designers shared how they want to start working with these materials, while public authorities reflected on their role not just as regulators, but also as launching customers who can help drive demand. All the participants leaved the session with one key takeaway: the materials are already there. Nopw i's time to scale them into real applications.
