The CLANCY project was recently presented at the Swedish National Conference on Invasive Alien Species, held on 17 and 18 March. The conference was fully booked and brought together 210 on-site participants and 200 online attendees, mainly representing national and regional authorities, companies and research institutions.
Sonja Leidenberger, project lead at the University of Skövde, gave a 15-minute presentation on CLANCY, outlining the project's objectives, ongoing activities and early results. Particular attention was given to the first observations of introgressed individuals of Chinese mitten crab and Japanese mitten crab in Sweden.
In addition, a group of students presented a poster and gave a live demonstration of Mitten Mayhem, a video game developed last autumn. The game is designed to raise awareness about CMC invasion in Europe and attracted considerable attention from conference participants.
The video game is now freely available in six languages for both Mac and PC and can be accessed via this link.
