On 23 November 2025, the CLANCY project proudly participated in the 'Day of Science' (Dag van de Wetenschap), the biggest science event in Flanders and Brussels. The annual initiative is organised by the Koepel van Attracties & Musea - Riebedebie.be and supported by the associations of Flemish universities of applied sciences, scientific institutions, museums, companies and federations.
Opportunity to raise awareness
Hosted at the University of Antwerp City Campus, the event attracted thousands of visitors eager to explore the wonders of science. At the CLANCY stand, the University of Antwerp introduced attendees to the project's objectives and raised awareness about the ecological impact of invasive crab species. Through interactive demonstrations, visitors saw firsthand how these crabs disturb sediment, increase water turbidity, and rapidly clip and damage macrophytes, which threatens aquatic ecosystems.
Our presence at the Science Day was an excellent opportunity to engage with the public, share knowledge, and highlight the importance of collaborative research in tackling invasive species.
