Since April, the crab trap in Dresden has remained dry due to persistently low water levels in the Elbe River, prompting the TU Dresden team to take action.

Since its installation in April, the crab trap in Dresden has been sitting dry because of the continuously low discharges and hence water levels in the Elbe River. To fix this, the TU Dresden team has now extended the trap 10 meters further into the river, marking the total length at 40 m (from the container to the end of the trap). This adjustment should make sure that the trap can finally do its job in the water and increase the chances of a crab finding its way into the container.

The task required approximately five half-working days in the field, in addition to a half-working day of preparatory work in the laboratory.
