Open trap day at Grobbendonk

During the event ‘Toeren om te Loeren’ (Touring to Peek’) on the 28th of September, we welcomed hundreds of interested cyclists at the Chinese Mitten Crab trap on the river Kleine Nete. The trap is one of many stops along the bycice tour and draws a lot of attention.

People got to see the large adult crabs that were intercepted during their downstream migration whilst learning about the problems these and other invasive alien species van cause in our ecosystem.
