A proven approach to ensure a successful definition of your idea is for example the SMART method. The SMART criteria can help with ensuring that the objectives are well-defined and achievable. SMART stands for:
- S: Specific – clear and precise description
- M: Measurable – ability to assess and track progress both qualitatively and quantitatively
- A: Achievable – realistic given the resources and constraints
- R: Realistic – alignment of goals, resources and timeframes
- T: Timed – setting a timeframe for completion provides a clear roadmap for implementation
