After an extensive construction period, a new pellet warehouse has been completed at the port of Kristinehamn, increasing storage capacity and optimizing pellet handling flows within the facility.

The warehouse is constructed using high-quality, non-combustible materials that meet the industry’s strictest fire and explosion safety standards, including advanced ventilation systems designed to manage dust and gases emitted from pellets.

The facility is equipped with continuous gas monitoring via sensors that measure carbon monoxide and other potentially harmful gases, connected to a centralized monitoring system for immediate response to any irregularities. The fire alarm system is integrated with automatic sprinklers and emergency alarms to ensure maximum safety during pellet handling and storage.

The logistics flow at the port is carefully designed to support the green transition. All ground equipment operates on HVO100, a renewable and fossil-free diesel alternative with significantly lower climate impact compared to conventional fuels. Together with LBC Logistik’s electric forklifts, carbon dioxide emissions and other environmental effects are minimized, creating a sustainable and energy-efficient transport chain. The forklifts’ battery management systems are optimized to maximize operating time and reduce energy consumption.

This initiative is a clear step in Vänerhamn’s strategy to contribute to a greener logistics sector and strengthen sustainability efforts within port operations.

At the inauguration ceremony, the ribbon was cut by Vänerhamn’s CEO Magnus Eriksson and Moelven Pellets’ CEO Staffan Vilhelmsson. As a symbol of long-term collaboration and sustainable development, an apple tree was presented to Operations Manager Klas Höggren – representing growth and optimism for the future.
