The Output of the Port of Skagen on a non-standard mobile OPS solution has been uploaded.
We are excited to inform you about the pilot report on a non-standard shore-side electricity (SSE) solution from the Port of Skagen. This pilot demonstrates how semi-mobile shore power can supply vessels efficiently, reducing emissions and local air pollutants while improving operational flexibility.
Complementing this, the Mobile OPS Cable Management System has been updated to allow flexible electrification across multiple quays, supporting scalable zero-emission solutions for smaller ports.
The system, commissioned in May 2025, delivers up to 1.5 MW via semi-automated Cable Management Systems (CMS) and has been tested with vessels like Lingbank. It offers flexible cable handling, digital monitoring, and transparent pricing (DKK 1.73/kWh), making it both user-friendly and economically viable.
Environmental modelling shows potential annual savings of up to 1,850 tons of CO₂, along with reductions in NOx, SOx, and particulate matter. The report also outlines a governance model and cost-benefit framework that other North Sea Region ports can adapt.
With strong stakeholder support and proven feasibility, the Skagen pilot sets a replicable example for sustainable port electrification across the region. Read more about their pilot:
