GRIT demonstrated that building skills for the green transition requires early youth engagement, stronger VET pathways, and close co-creation with companies. It also showed how modular, flexible training, supported by teachers and lifelong learning, can quickly respond to emerging needs in hydrogen technologies and port decarbonisation. Here are our key takeaways on how GRIT contributes to the European Green Deal:

  • Start early: link career guidance and STEM education to green jobs.

This way your youngsters get an insight on how they will contribute to the green transition by taking up a specific job - a link they themselves would probably not make.

  • Invest in VET: strengthen both initial and continuing training.

By going step-by-step, as we did in the VET-module on hydrogyn, you lower the huge boundary of starting a new study and can take the time to get them really interested.

  • Co-create with companies: ensure training meets real market needs.

This works in two ways: trainees are more ready to take up tasks in the companies. By involving them in the training, the theory gets great examples of how it's being used in the real world!

  • Keep it modular: make content adaptable and easy to integrate.

Lower the boundaries, in every possible way.

  • Focus on hydrogen & ports: address key decarbonisation skills.

The bigger picture helps to narrow the focus down.

  • Empower teachers and support lifelong learning.

    Amen!
