Pimp My Port: a youth engagement program

The GRIT Youth Engagement Program invites young people to explore the exciting world of green industry and sustainable innovation. Designed for students aged 12 to 16, the program combines gamified learning with real-world challenges to spark curiosity about the technologies shaping our energy transition — from hydrogen and wind power to smart ports and circular production.

The program connects education and industry to help bridge the skills gap in the green transition. By adding the professions needed to make these technologies work, students experience how these technical jobs contribute to a more sustainable future.

For schools and organisations, GRIT offers ready-to-use materials,  and guidance to implement the program locally. By engaging the next generation early on, we can build a skilled and motivated workforce ready to drive Europe’s green transformation.

👉 Join the transition. Inspire your students. Build the future.

From real jobs to game challenges

The Pimp My Port game brings the green industrial transition to life by translating real jobs and technologies into playful missions. Based on insights from our stakeholder consultations with companies, educators, and labour market experts, the game reflects authentic roles such as technician, engineer, and operator — and technologies like hydrogen production, electrification, and carbon capture. Students explore how these professions contribute to building more sustainable industries, helping them connect classroom learning with real-world opportunities.
