The H2ignite project was proud to take part in the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) 2025, Europe’s flagship event for advancing clean energy solutions.
In its 19th edition, EUSEW brought together a vibrant and diverse community of energy experts, innovators, and decision-makers in Brussels to explore pathways toward a secure, sustainable, and climate-neutral future.
This year, H2ignite, presented by Port of Hamburg Marketing, joined forces with several Interreg and Horizon Europe projects to co-exhibit and engage with stakeholders across the energy and logistics sectors. Together, the group showcased how EU-funded initiatives are driving decarbonization in maritime logistics—an area where hydrogen technologies are increasingly seen as a game-changer.
Throughout the three-day event, H2ignite participated in dynamic conversations with policymakers, infrastructure operators, technology providers, and academic institutions. The interest from attendees was remarkable, with many drawn to the project’s vision for integrating hydrogen into port operations and supply chains. These exchanges not only highlighted the strategic importance of hydrogen but also opened doors to new partnerships and collaborative opportunities.
EUSEW 2025 focused on turning strategy into action. Under the theme “Powering a fair and competitive green transition,” the conference featured sessions on scaling clean technologies, modernising energy infrastructure, and implementing practical solutions across sectors. High-level representatives from EU institutions and Member States set the tone during the opening session, emphasizing the need for affordable energy, technological neutrality, and sustainable energy independence.
One quote that resonated strongly came from Krzysztof Bolesta, Secretary of State at the Polish Ministry of Climate and Environment:
For the energy transition to be effective, we need three elements: cheaper and affordable energy for people and businesses, technological neutrality—where all low- and zero-carbon technologies matter—and sustainable energy independence by bringing as much of the energy value chain back to Europe.
Later sessions explored the role of energy communities, the electrification of industry, and the transformative potential of AI and digital tools. Hydrogen, biomethane, and fusion energy were also key topics, especially in discussions around industrial renovation and energy efficiency.
H2ignite’s participation in EUSEW 2025 reaffirmed its commitment to innovation, collaboration, and the development of resilient, climate-neutral logistics systems. The event was a powerful reminder of the collective momentum behind Europe’s energy transition—and the vital role hydrogen will play in shaping its future.
