Project LIHYP (Linking Hydrogen Power Potentials) recently hosted its midterm event in Hamburg.
Project LIHYP (Linking Hydrogen Power Potentials) recently hosted its midterm event in Hamburg, bringing together key stakeholders from across the North Sea Region to advance the development of a cross-border hydrogen ecosystem. Representatives from Schleswig-Holstein, the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, Provincie Drenthe, and Port of Hamburg Marketing engaged in productive discussions with LIHYP stakeholders.
The event highlighted the shared ambition of both projects to create a robust and interconnected hydrogen ecosystem. Participants explored how to harmonize infrastructure across borders, develop viable business models for hydrogen adoption in logistics and transport, and ensure that policy frameworks support innovation and investment.
LIHYP’s work complements H2ignite’s mission by connecting hydrogen supply and demand through regional marketplaces and strategic roadmaps. With over 2,000 SMEs involved and projects ranging from hydrogen-powered cargo bikes to freight trains and bus stations, LIHYP is demonstrating the practical potential of hydrogen across Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, and the Netherlands.
The collaboration between H2ignite and LIHYP reflects a growing momentum in the North Sea Region to become Europe’s “Green Power Plant.” By fostering regional cooperation and knowledge exchange, both projects are paving the way for a sustainable energy future and helping to meet EU climate targets.
