On September 10, Ulrika Claeson Colpier and Magnus Karlström from Lindholmen Science Park and Dr Monica Johansson from Volvo Group who leads one of the four pilot ecosystems (Pilot West Sweden) visited Ljungby to learn from an exciting new hydrogen initiative.
We had the opportunity to meet with Finn Kofoed-Dam, CEO of Strandmöllen AB, and Bertil Rydqvist, Hydrogen Project Manager at PS Energi - who recently inaugurated a co-located hydrogen production plant and refueling station. Opened on September 2, the facility combines local solar-based hydrogen production with a station designed for both light and heavy transport.
Strandmöllen produces around 1.2 tons of green hydrogen per day and has also built advanced filling facilities for cylinders, batteries, and trailers — ensuring flexible supply to customers across different sectors and locations. PS Energi’s station complements this with infrastructure adapted for heavy-duty vehicles, and future plans even include a connecting pipeline between the two plants.
Discussions focused on lessons learned, local collaboration, and the challenges still ahead: permitting, infrastructure gaps, and building strong business models for green hydrogen in heavy transport.
It was inspiring to see how Ljungby is positioning itself for the future of green hydrogen in heavy transport — a great example of local action driving the green transition.
