Identifying wavelengths
Most of the studies conducted on light pollution only measure from blue to ultraviolet light. However it is known that different wavelengths of light may affect the ecosystem in different ways and, hence we should have data for all the light spectrum.
Felix, one of the collaborator in the project is now trying to find an efficient and low-cost method to measure this. He is working at the moment placing spectroscopes in different locations and using Raspberry cameras, to study the spectrum. These cameras only show RGB values. However through experimenting with the data Felix was able to find UV values.
This is an ardous task because he is been working with the code for the correct settings of the cameras and their absolute radiometric calibration.
The ultimate goal Felix says is to find the sky brightness at each wavelength, and then have this data available for later studies on light pollution.
