At Handest Hede in Northern Denmark, Eurowind Energy is currently developing a pilot Hydrogen Refueling Station (HRS) directly connected to a large-scale onshore wind and PV site.
As shown in the video, the pilot focuses on how renewable electricity can be converted on site into green hydrogen and supplied directly to heavy-duty transport. While HRS technologies are mature, the direct coupling to fluctuating wind and solar generation requires a new system design tailored to real customer needs.
The pilot includes:
- techno-economic specification of the HRS (pressure levels, storage, heat use),
- close dialogue with local logistics and distribution companies testing hydrogen trucks,
- and system integration scenarios from wind-to-truck, including “behind-the-meter” solutions and potential connection to the Green Hydrogen Hub Denmark.
Integrated renewable energy and hydrogen solutions offer a clear pathway to decarbonizing heavy transport.
