Mark 25 March 2026 in your calendar: on that date, the International conference on smart cycling will take place in Enschede. This event marks the conclusion of the European MegaBITS project. Directly following the conference, the NECTAR network meeting on smart cycling will take place, providing a unique bridge between policy, practice, and science.

A day full of inspiration
The conference brings together cycling and ITS professionals, policymakers, companies, and researchers from across Europe. Through plenary and parallel sessions, we will explore how smart technologies and cycling data can contribute to safer, more sustainable, and more attractive cycling cities. Participants will learn from the lessons of the MegaBITS project, hear about the latest European developments in smart cycling and cycling data, and discover inspiring practical examples from regions and cities such as Overijssel, Province of Antwerp, Le Havre Seine Métropole, Hamburg and Copenhagen. In addition to a strong content-driven program, the conference offers plenty of opportunities to network with colleagues from home and abroad.
Followed by the NECTAR workshop
On 26 March 2026, the conference continues with the NECTAR (Network on European Communications and Transport Activities Research) meeting on Smart Cycling. This scientific meeting focuses on topics such as digitalization, data, and smart cycling systems and brings together researchers, cycling industry representatives, and policymakers working on the future of smart cycling.
