The New Energy Forum is the North Netherlands’ leading event for innovation in sustainable energy and mobility. Held annually in Groningen, it brings together engineers, policymakers, researchers, educators, and students to explore the technologies, talent, and systems driving the energy transition forward.
This year, NESSIE joined the Forum to highlight the need for personnel in addition to the technological and innovation focus of the conference. Deborah Goeree, from NESSIE partner the New Energy Coalition, presented a poster at the Forum’s interactive poster session, introducing visitors to NESSIE’s work to grow and support the next generation of energy transition installers.
The poster highlighted how NESSIE is addressing a critical challenge: the shortage of skilled workers needed to install and maintain renewable technologies. Through new educational spaces called E-Campuses, short advanced courses, and inclusive recruitment strategies, NESSIE is helping regions build local capacity and offers clear, exciting career paths to future installers.
Deborah connected with a wide range of visitors, including technical students, vocational trainers, local employers, and regional policymakers. The conversations sparked ideas and interest in how practical training solutions can help scale up the transition.
By taking part in the New Energy Forum, NESSIE continues to build awareness for vocational education and training (VET) as a powerful lever in delivering a fast, fair, and skilled energy future.
