The first Short Advanced Courses from the NESSIE project at IUT Lorient are now open for professionals to sign up!

In October 2025, the University Institute of Technology (IUT) in Lorient, part of the University of Southern Brittany, launched its first short course in energy training as part of the NESSIE project. The two-day Dynamic Thermal Simulation module brought together professionals, project leaders, and energy advisors eager to strengthen their understanding of building performance in real operating conditions.

The training offered participants hands-on experience with simulation tools to model heat transfer, evaluate comfort levels, and optimise energy efficiency in buildings. By combining theory with practical exercises, the course gave participants the skills to better design, analyse, and communicate the energy performance of renovation and construction projects.

This course is part of a broader offer developed by IUT Lorient in collaboration with NESSIE, designed to upskill both students and working professionals in the fast-growing energy transition sector. The Short Energy Training catalogue focuses on three key areas: renewable heat, photovoltaics, and building thermal performance. Each module is short—typically one to three days—and open to a wide audience, including designers, technicians, advisors, and administrative staff wishing to move toward energy-related careers.

Following the success of the first module, new training sessions will open soon, covering topics such as solar thermal systems, photovoltaic design and maintenance, and advanced energy diagnosis. These short courses are delivered in Lorient by university lecturers and industry experts, combining academic rigour with practical relevance to regional and European energy priorities.

You can explore upcoming modules and registration details on the University of Southern Brittany’s website.
