NS H2V Ports

In North Sea Hydrogen Valley Ports (NS H2V Ports), the consortium, together with all relevant stakeholders, will further develop the hydrogen programmes of the ports of Brest, Esbjerg, Bremen and Den Helder into concrete roadmaps, as a basis for realisation into a maritime Hydrogen Valley.

Welcome to the NS H2V Ports website!

Hydrogen is more than a buzzword—it’s a key pillar in Europe’s clean energy future. With the EU aiming to produce 10 million tonnes of renewable hydrogen by 2030 and import another 10 million, the race is on to make this vision a reality.

At the heart of this transformation are our ports. As gateways between sea and land, they are uniquely positioned to become major hubs for hydrogen production, storage, and transport. But to unlock their full potential, we need bold collaboration, innovative planning, and a unified approach.

That’s where Port Hydrogen Valleys come in. We’re developing master plans in Brest, Bremen, Den Helder, and Esbjerg—four forward-thinking port regions ready to lead the hydrogen revolution. These Hydrogen Valleys are more than just infrastructure—they’re new governance models that bring together producers, users, public institutions, and private investors to scale up from demonstration to full-scale deployment.

Our approach is simple:

  • Create strong partnerships across borders and sectors
  • Support vessel design and hydrogen bunkering infrastructure
  • Break down regulatory and governance barriers
  • Foster demand through smart policy tools like public procurement and contracts for difference

Together, we’re building a roadmap to a thriving hydrogen economy in the North Sea Region—one that’s clean, connected, and competitive.

Would you like to follow our story and see how it unfolds? Join us on the journey to a greener, hydrogen-powered future.
