BrestPort

We are proud to collaborate with the BrestPort, one of the four pilot ports where a dedicated hydrogen roadmap is being developed as part of this project. Strategically located on France’s Atlantic coast and backed by strong regional partnerships, the BrestPort plays a crucial role in advancing the hydrogen economy across the North Sea region and beyond.

As the port shifts away from traditional oil and gas activities, it is embracing a bold new vision centered on green energy and decarbonization. Aligned with the Brittany Region’s strategy, the port is exploring hydrogen as the green energy of the future, with short-term transitions including biofuels and electrification of port logistics and visiting vessels.

In this project, BrestPort contributes to multiple work packages, including the development of its Port Hydrogen Master Plan in close coordination with the Brittany Region. It also supports the design of a broader hydrogen production, import/export, and distribution network for the North Sea region. Additionally, Brest takes part in shaping bunkering strategies, follows progress on hydrogen-powered vessels, and helps extend the North Sea Hydrogen Valley Port Network through its strong regional and national partnerships.

BrestPort is also deeply involved in related initiatives such as REDII and DIOL, which explore use cases for hydrogen and green fuels in ports. Through its stakeholder engagement experience and active think tank community, Brest is creating a foundation for scalable, port-based hydrogen solutions.
