Offshore Experience
As pressure mounts to meet climate goals and ensure energy independence, accelerating the energy transition has become imperative. Among the most promising solutions is hydrogen (H₂): a low-carbon, flexible energy carrier that can help decarbonize heavy industry, produce sustainable aviation fuels, and deliver clean heat to homes. But as hydrogen’s role expands, so does the need for public understanding and trust. How safe is hydrogen, really? These crucial questions will take center stage at Offshore Experience 2025. The event will be held on September 9 at Theater De Kampanje in Den Helder, the Netherlands. Now in its fourth edition, this is the only national event dedicated entirely to the Blue Economy—where ecological sustainability intersects with maritime industry. The 2025 theme, ‘Blue Leadership,’ highlights bold, cross-sector strategies aimed at building a cleaner, safer North Sea region.
Hydrogen is clean, flexible, and holds tremendous potential in building a CO₂-neutral future. But to fully unlock this potential, we need a new way of thinking about safety.
Organized by the North Sea Hydrogen Valley Ports (NSH2V Ports) project in collaboration with New Energy Coalition and ONHN, this workshop focuses on safety in port environments. Ports are poised to become the central hubs of the hydrogen economy - enabling storage, bunkering, and offshore transport - and therefore require tailored approaches to risk management and infrastructure development.
One of the highlights of the workshop is a live panel discussion, bringing together a diverse group of voices from across the hydrogen field. Including safety specialists, business strategists, and young professionals—such as participants from Yusuf Kilic Stattkraft and Martin Koelman from Seekable focused on innovation and safety. Together, they will explore real-world safety challenges, innovative detection technologies, and the complexities of cross-border governance.
