From June 2–4, 2025, the REMARCO consortium came together for a project meeting in the scenic city of Tromsø, Norway. The event was kindly hosted by UiT – The Arctic University of Norway, who provided not only the venue but also valuable local support. A warm thank-you to our Norwegian colleagues!
Participants from all project partners met to exchange updates on ongoing work, discuss methodological developments, and plan the next phases of the project.
Key topics of discussion included:
🔹 Progress in sample analysis and data harmonization
🔹 Coordination of upcoming field campaigns
🔹 Integration of stakeholder perspectives and policy relevance
🔹 Strategic planning for science communication and outreach
Beyond the formal sessions, Tromsø’s Arctic landscape, illuminated by the midnight sun, offered a unique and inspiring setting for informal networking and collaborative spirit.
This meeting marked an important step in strengthening the interdisciplinary ties within REMARCO and pushing forward our shared mission to address the environmental legacy of submerged munitions and wrecks in European seas.
📍 The next project meeting is scheduled for November 2025 in Bremerhaven, Germany – we look forward to seeing everyone again soon!
