POPUP Talk 'Tool for optimizing logistics in Biorefinery Networks'

Pierre Thiriet of INRAE introduces the LOG Tool to support the design of efficient and sustainable Territorial Biorefinery Networks (TBN). The tool is developed within the CLOSECYCLE project.  Using mathematical optimization methods, the tool assists decision-makers in determining the most appropriate locations and capacities for biomass pre-treatment facilities. While minimizing both logistical costs and greenhouse gas emissions. Drawing on a concrete case study in France, focused on apple pomace processing in Brittany, the presentation discusses the tool's key findings, its current limitations, and the conditions required for its broader application across diverse agricultural and territorial contexts.
