In Lübeck the projects CLOSECYCLE and the KUKOM project are working together in improving the seprate collection of kitchen waste.
In the CLOSECYCLE showcase of EBL and the Technical University of Hamburg,, citizens of three city districts are motivated and helped in separating the kitchen waste.
At the start of the project in March citizens received two small sorting bins for separating their kitchen waste. These sorting bins allow them to conveniently and completely collect their kitchen waste directly in their kitchen. Phase 1 of the project involved familiarizing with the sorting bins and disposing of the collected organic waste in the organic waste bin at their local waste collection point as usual. Now, on June 14th, the citizens can join the second informational event to inform them about the next steps. During this phase, the organic waste bins will be removed and a special rack will be installed on which they can hang their sorting bins. The contents of the bins will then be collected regularly and in an environmentally friendly manner using an electric cargo bike.
