At the location of Gräflich Bernstorffsche Betriebe last year a sustainable and circular system was developed. With their own input streams, compost was developed. To increase the compost quality, additives were used. Part of the sustainable cultivation is sowing catch crops.

Main process considered was manure from own cows
and green waste composting together with additives (stone meal,
biochar). Catch crops did grow around the composting windrows.
After the piles were finished TUHH took samples from the compost,
soil and catch crops for analytics. Compost was applied at the farm
on crops such as potatos. Also catch crops were planted on fields.
Regarding anaerobic digestion discussions took place with TUHH.
Removing the composting piles and application of compost: 5
types of compost – baased on cow manure and meadow
cuttings, partly with additives (biochar, stone powder
preparations)
Mixing of withered catch crops into soil for N usage: The main
plant beside the piles was oil radish. Before incooperation,
samples were taken by TUHH for analytics. It included also
sampling of compost and soil into different depths.
