Apple chain – Processing of apple by-products

This showcase focuses on cascade fractionation to extract pectin and polyphenols, as well as anaerobic digestion to produce biogas. It also explores the potential for integrating these production processes with other nearby bioresources. The local partners in Brittany, INRAE and IFPC, collaborate with local apple cider producers and industries, providing expertise and technical support for the showcases.

Extracting polyphenol in cider production

This showcase will utilize the experimental facility at 'Domaine de la Motte,' located in Le Rheu, Brittany (France). The facility enables pilot-scale experiments related to cider production. Polyphenol-rich cider by-products, known for their promising antioxidant properties, are currently being investigated. Also trials for biogas production from cider residues will be designed.
