Production of Biochar
This showcase is located in the region of Vastra Gotaland in a natural resource shool. The school is located outside Töreboda, and practise organic farming, large-scale organic horticulture, and many educational programs in animal and nature care. The food waste from the school is composted and used in vegetable cultivation.The school focus in green bioeconomy and circularity and has a pilot biochar plant used for pyrolysis of different substrates. The biochar plant is integrated in the schools heating system. The substrate used to produce biochar is mainly wood chips, but investigations are ongoing using fiber pulp from pressed grass and clover from the biorefinery. The biochar system is a biomacon 63 kW and can produce about 400 litres biochar per day.
