Processes

Workpackage 2 aims to enable stakeholders to select the most appropriate processes for a specific situation in a simple and reliable way. It shall be possible to utilize the wide range of residue-based bioresources taking into account local product application possibilities. And to guide users towards process cascades that allows an efficient material and energy generation, as well as a safe use. Finally, it aims to provide the technical framework for the design of Territorial Biorenery Networks (TBN).  The objective(s) is to efficiently initiate Territorial Biorefinery Networks by providing information on process chains with resulting product options, and the essential steps to get started. The primary target groups are providers, collectors, processors of residue-based bioresources, organizations representing them, product consumers, regional authorities, secondary education and training institutions and the general public.

Analysing products and processes

Partners in CLOSECYCLE, led by University of Hamburg, develop a set of analyzes with which products can be characterized. Characterization of residual waste streams on content, nutrients, plastics, pollutions. From the characterization also processes are described. Starting with the input residual organic waste streams, what are the processes to upgrade these streams towards useful endproducts. And what are the proces steps for cascading the input waste streams.
