The Power of Storytelling
How can our stories engage people, foster pride, and strengthen our identity and attractiveness?
Back in March, Oskar Lundgren, Head of Business Development at Vansbro Municipality, was invited to speak at a Presentation & Talk: Storytelling as a Culture Changer. His insights and perspectives sparked ideas and showed that more people would benefit from meeting Oskar.
An invitation was sent, and last week, Oscar visited the municipalities of Sotenäs and Lysekil, who jointly had arranged an event. He delivered an inspiring and humorous talk about how Vansbro has worked strategically to highlight local stories. By building on pride, optimism, and a shared sense of “we,” the municipality has strengthened its image and created engagement both internally and externally.

Among the participants were local officials, business representatives, and politicians, all eager to explore how storytelling can strengthen community identity and attractiveness. More than 50 people attended the event, and they were given lots of inspiration for their respective local areas.
Oskar emphasised the importance of a culture driven by hope rather than expectation, where people and place grow together. His concrete examples showed how even small municipalities with limited resources can make a big impact and how communities can support each other to become their own best ambassadors.
With this inspiration in mind, let’s continue sharing the story of our unique and special hubs.
