The Hub has a long experience working with businesses, as formal members of the Hub. However, there is potential to strengthen connections with civil society, academia and both national and international innovation actors - fostering exchange and enhancing knowledge on the island.

Examples of recent new Multi-Helix that have taken place:

  • Læsø Udviklingsnetværk (Development Network) and DevelopmentLAB Læsø: utilising local knowledge from "part-time" citizens and strengthening local engagement in culture and business development. Læsø Udviklingsnetværk is on its way to be “merged” into the DevelopmentLab Læsø. Meaning that Læsø Udviklingsnetværk will cease to be. However, the network is the group behind Læsø Sea Centre and DevelopmentLab Læsø itself, so there has been plenty of great outcomes. It will just no longer be a project group in itself.
  • Læsø Sea Centre, project creating new networks and collaborations around common cause: The fishing industry is changing in Denmark. Local stakeholders establish networks to national stakeholders, ex. other sea and water centers in Denmark with Multi-Helix networks.
  • Projects lead to more projects through sharing of knowledge, new connections and interests in networks and development, eg.  EU Interreg NSR project SIRR & EU Interreg BSR project Redirect. Engagement in the “project world” has in itself become a catalyst for new connections.

Other Hub highlights are the increasing number of local businesses seeking support for development and innovation processes – as well as how to find funding . This is leading to real local sustainable development actions. A rural and coastal area where everyone is onboard and contributing to the EU Green Deal.

Great evidence of the value of the Hub and the SIRR project!
